What the Claude Code MCP server does

Claude Code already reads your repository and runs your commands. MCP is how it reaches a service that is neither. Registering the OpenClips server gives the agent a set of video tools it can call the way it calls anything else: list what the workspace holds, pick a model, send a render, report back where the file is. You stay in the terminal for the whole loop.

Adding it with one command

The command on this page is the entire setup. It names the transport and the server address, and it is safe to read before you run it because it carries no secret. Claude Code stores the server, and the first tool call opens OpenClips in your browser so you can sign in and approve the connection against your account.

Rendering from a terminal session

Once the approval is done, describe the shot. The agent picks a model from the live roster, quotes the render before it fires, and hands back the file when it lands. The result sits in your OpenClips library, so anything you started from the terminal can be finished, remixed or shared from the app. The browser connector for the Claude app is on the Claude page.

No. The add command carries the server address and nothing secret. Authorization happens in the browser against your OpenClips account. Remove the OpenClips server from Claude Code to end it, and the agent stops calling OpenClips.
