What the Cursor MCP server does

MCP is how Cursor reaches a service outside your codebase. Adding the OpenClips server puts a set of video tools next to the ones the editor already has: the agent can read what your workspace holds, choose a model, fire a render and report where the file landed. You brief it in the same chat you use for code.

Installing with the link

The row on this page is a Cursor install link. Paste it into your browser and the editor opens with the OpenClips server prefilled, so nothing is typed by hand and nothing is added until you confirm it. The first tool call sends you to OpenClips in the browser to sign in and approve the connection.

Rendering without leaving the editor

Describe the clip and the agent does the rest. It picks a model from the live roster, quotes the render before spending anything, and hands back the file. It lands in your OpenClips library, so a clip started in the editor can be finished or shared from the app later. Every other client's steps are on the OpenClips MCP hub.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Copy the install link on this page and paste it into your browser. Cursor opens with the OpenClips server already filled in and asks you to confirm the add. OpenClips then opens so you can sign in and authorize the connection.

It is a custom-scheme link, so it only resolves where Cursor is installed. A button would silently do nothing on a phone or on a machine without the editor, so the page hands you the link to paste rather than a press that may go nowhere.

Cursor writes the brief and OpenClips renders it. You describe the clip in the editor chat, the agent calls the OpenClips tools, and the finished file lands in your OpenClips library.
