What the Claude MCP server does
MCP is the protocol Claude uses to reach a tool that is not built into it. The OpenClips server is one of those tools: once it is connected, Claude can list what your workspace holds, pick a model, send a render and tell you where the file landed. The chat stays the interface. The rendering happens on OpenClips, against the same account and the same credits you use in the composer.
What you can ask for once it is connected
Anything the composer can do, described in plain words. Ask for a vertical spot for a product you have already uploaded and Claude reads the product record, chooses a model that fits the shape and fires the render. Ask what a job would cost and it quotes before it spends. The tools listed on this page are the whole surface, captured from the live server rather than promised.
Approving the connection
Nothing about this runs on a pasted secret. Adding the connector tells Claude where the server is, and the first call sends you to OpenClips in the browser to sign in and approve. That approval is what the server trusts, it is tied to your account, and removing the connector in Claude ends it. Connecting the terminal agent instead is a single command, on the Claude Code page.
