How credits work

The short answer

Every video and image on OpenClips costs credits (⚡), and the exact price shows on the button before you press it. Plan credits arrive fresh every month for that month, and the credits you top up are yours to keep.

Where you see your credits

On a computer, your balance sits in the top bar with Top up beside it. Press the balance to see your credits left, your plan and Usage & billing.

  • The card at the bottom of the App menu shows your credits and your plan, with Top up.
  • Billing shows your Balance, split into Plan credits and Top-ups & bonuses.
  • On a phone on the free plan, the top bar shows Upgrade instead of the balance. Your credits are on the card in the menu.

What your plan gives you

Every new account gets signup credits once. A plan adds fresh credits every month, yearly plans too, and a team plan adds them for every seat.

PlanCredits
Free⚡50 once, when you sign up
Starter⚡900 each month
Creator⚡3,200 each month
Pro⚡9,000 each month
MAX⚡24,000 each month
Team Pro⚡6,000 a seat each month
Team MAX⚡10,000 a seat each month

What a video or image costs

The price depends on the model, the length and the quality. You see it before you spend anything: on the Generate button, beside every length and quality option, and on each model in the picker.

Credits are taken only when a render starts. If the render fails, they come back to your balance.

Plan credits and credits you keep

OpenClips spends your top-ups and bonuses first and your plan credits last. If you top up in the middle of the month, the top-up is used before that month’s plan credits.

Top up when you need more

Press Top up and choose a pack. Here is what each pack adds on the free plan:

Top-upCredits
$10⚡800
$25⚡2,000
$50⚡4,000
$100⚡8,000
$200⚡16,000

A plan can change how many credits a pack adds, and the app shows the exact amount before you pay.

Turn on Auto-refill in Billing and OpenClips tops you up when your balance dips below the amount you choose. It stays off until you turn it on.

Unlimited passes

An Unlimited pass covers one model family, up to a set quality and length, for the days you pick. Videos it covers wait in the Unlimited queue and use no credits. You pay once, and it does not renew.

In the composer, the Unlimited switch shows whether a video uses your pass or your credits. Run now starts a queued video at once, for its normal price. OpenClips MCP and the API always use credits.

Credits on a team plan

Every seat adds its credits to one shared balance. An admin can give each member a Credit budget when inviting them, or leave it at No limit.

When you change or cancel your plan

  • If you cancel, you keep the plan and its credits until the end of the period. Then you move to the free plan.
  • If you downgrade, nothing changes until the date shown, then the new plan starts.
  • If you upgrade, the new plan starts right away, and its extra credits land now.
  • Your top-ups and bonuses stay in every case.
