Add sound to a video
The short answer
Pick a model that makes sound, describe what we should hear in the prompt and leave the sound switch On before you press Generate. The model makes the sound with the video, so you add it while you make the video.

Before you start
What you need
- An idea for the scene and what we should hear in it: voices, music, the sounds of the place.
- An OpenClips account. You can start without one and sign up when you press Generate.

Steps
Open Create
Press Create in the App menu.
On a phone: Tap Create in the menu. The full-screen Create video composer opens.
Pick a model that makes sound
Press Change on the model card. In Models, a model that makes sound ends its line with Sound. Pick one.
Describe what we hear
Write the scene in the prompt and say what we should hear: who speaks and what they say, the music, the sounds around them. For example: “Rain taps on a café window. A barista says: one oat latte, coming up.”
Leave the sound on
The sound switch sits under the prompt with a speaker on it. Make sure it reads On. Press it to switch the sound off or on again.
On a phone: The Sound tile sits under the prompt. Make sure it reads On. Tap it to switch the sound off or on again.
Press Generate
Press Generate. The button shows the exact price before you press it.
Play it in your Library
Your video lands in your Library, under Creations. Open it and turn your speaker up to hear it.
What you get
A video with the sound the model made for it, in your Library under Creations.
Tips and limits
- A model with no sound switch either always adds sound or makes none. Its line in Models ends with Sound when it adds it.
- Put spoken words in quotes in your prompt, and say who says them.

If something goes wrong
- The video came out silent: the model makes no sound, or the switch was Off. Pick a model whose line ends with Sound.
- The button says Top Up instead of Generate: your balance is too low for this video.
- The video failed: a failed render gives its credits back.Fix
